Dedication: Rakaposhi Organics is dedicated to my late mother, Shamim Sherally Ramzi, who passed away in November 2021 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She gave me everything, and it is through her that I know the meaning of unconditional love.

About Me

My name is Aly Khan Ramzi, and I am the founder of Rakaposhi Organics. I am the oldest of three children and a father of two. Professionally, I spent 20 years in finance before embarking on this deeply personal journey.

While my background may seem distant from building an e-commerce brand focused on wellness and heritage, my time in the business world taught me the principles that guide everything we do: build on strong, honest foundations; treat your people—customers included—as family; add genuine value at every step; and above all, be deeply passionate about your purpose.

Background: A Global Journey

Over my life, I have called many places home. Born in Karachi, Pakistan; raised and educated in the DC Metro Area, USA; a decade in Dubai through my 30s; and since 2019, Hong Kong. I am, in every sense, a global citizen.

In 2021, during the coronavirus pandemic lockdown, I hadn't seen my mother for nearly two years. In mid-November, I received an urgent call: "Drop everything and get on an airplane. Her time is limited."

I flew out 48 hours later. Upon arrival in Karachi, I rushed to Agha Khan University Hospital, where my sister warned me to compose myself before entering my mother's room. She was intubated and frail, but her eyes—those eyes—showed she was glad I was there.

During those final days I spent by her bedside, the words "live, beautiful" echoed in my mind like a mantra I couldn't stop repeating. Despite our collective prayers, she passed away at 5:05 pm on November 25, 2021—four days before her 67th birthday.

My Mother's Legacy: A Life of Courage and Service

My mother was an exceptional human being. Born in Calcutta, India in 1954, she lived through a civil war and moved to Karachi in her late teens. After divorcing my father, she fought for custody of her children and became an English teacher to support us. Against all odds, she managed to immigrate us to the United States, where she worked as an office manager—all as a single parent.

Her lifelong passion for protecting and educating the disempowered eventually brought her back home, where she established a charity school in Skardu, Pakistan. She worked there, transforming young lives, until her final days.

The Birth of Rakaposhi Organics

In my grief, I found solace in a new purpose: to continue my mother's legacy of giving back. Thus, Rakaposhi Organics was born—inspired by her unwavering dedication to education and empowerment, and driven by a profound desire to continue her Great Work.

My First Contact with Shilajit

My first experience with shilajit was transformative. Despite its distinctive, earthy taste, the immediate clarity and sustained vitality I experienced convinced me of its remarkable potential. When I reached out to our relationships in the northern regions about launching this project, the outpouring of support from the shilajit harvesting community was overwhelming. My mother had directly impacted their children's lives through her school, and they were honored to support us in continuing her mission.

Inspired by my mother's dedication to bettering lives, we commit 10% of every dollar earned to funding education for children in the remote Himalayan communities where we source, including vital support for children with disabilities.

We operate with radical transparency, ensuring fair-trade partnerships, sustainable harvesting practices, and uncompromising quality standards. Every jar of Rakaposhi Gold is independently lab-tested, traditionally crafted, and infused with purpose.
